Support for an Afro festival: WordPress/Crocoblock site with program, practical information & photo galleries

THE LAFF The Lausanne Afro Fusions Festival is a major cultural event celebrating the diversity and richness of Afro culture in Lausanne for over nine years, attracting between 10,000 and 20,000 festival-goers. The festival needed a engaging and comprehensive digital platform to communicate the detailed program (artists, times per stage), practical information (access, transport, stands), present the markets (crafts, culinary), the organizing committee, and attract festival-goers, volunteers, sponsors and exhibitors.

Geekworkers developed this WordPress site on a voluntary basis, putting his expertise at the service of this major cultural event in French-speaking Switzerland.

The site, created voluntarily by Geekworkers, provides the LAFF Festival with a modern tool to promote the event and engage its community.

  • Complete and centralized information: all practical information (access, opening hours, stands) easily found by visitors.
  • Community engagement facilitated: simplified processes to become a volunteer, sponsor or rent a booth.
  • Promotion of the event: highlighting the atmosphere, history and partners of the festival.
  • Optimized content management: Using WP Sheet Editor can facilitate the bulk management of program or registrant data.

Strategy and technical solutions deployed

Geekworkers voluntarily created a dynamic WordPress platform for the LAFF Festival, optimized with Elementor and Crocoblock.

Promote the festival and its detailed program

Strategy: use of personalized content types and smart filters.

With JetEngine (Crocoblock), we structured the program elements (artists, events, schedules, locations) as custom content types. This allows for a clear and dynamic presentation of the program. Smart Filters is used to allow festival-goers to filter the program by day, event type or location, greatly improving navigation. JetPopup can be used for important announcements or specific highlights.

Providing all practical information to festival-goers

Strategy: dedicated sections and clear content.

Specific pages, built with Elementor, are dedicated to practical information: access and transport (with a potential map), detailed timetables, presentation of craft and culinary markets. The objective is to answer all festival-goers' questions in advance.

Facilitating community engagement (volunteers, sponsors, exhibitors)

Strategy: dedicated contact forms and clear information.

Specific forms (probably via JetFormBuilder, implicit with Crocoblock, or Elementor Pro forms secured by WP Armour) are set up for volunteer applications, sponsorship requests and booth reservations. Booth rental rates are clearly displayed, making the process easier for exhibitors.

Highlighting the atmosphere, history and partners of the festival

Strategy: media galleries, press section and highlighting of supporters.

An image gallery allows visitors to relive highlights from previous editions. A "Press Reviews" section enhances credibility. Partner and sponsor logos are prominently featured. Rank Math SEO optimizes the visibility of the festival, and PixelYourSite allows you to track visitor engagement. Compliance manages cookie compliance.
